The authentic Alpine town resort of Les Gets is located on an 1172 meters high pass between Switzerland and the Mont Blanc in France, a stone’s throw from the Swiss boarder. Les Gets is located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil region, surrounded by some of the most varied French alpine scenery and is part of one of the world’s largest ski areas. Les Gets also has a breathtaking panorama of the highest mountain range in Europe and, of course, of Mont Blanc. The charm of Les Gets is essentially due to its traditional architectural features - wood, stone and sculptured balconies.

As your choice for a winter or summer holiday or for an active or relaxing break to enjoy the beautiful scenery and pure mountain air, Les Gets is the perfect resort.

Winter

It is one of the closest main ski resorts to the UK and easy to reach. The snow history in this region is also very good with lifts open from December into mid April. Les Gets resort is suitable for beginner skiers/snowboarders with some of the best ski schools and learner slopes and very fair prices compared to other parts of Europe. For those who are more familiar with the Alps in the winter there are also plenty of challenging black runs and free riding heaven, varying from ‘open mountain’ to ‘forest runs’. Day trips to the Central Massif, Mont Blanc and Heli skiing are also possible. Click here for information on more activities.

Summer

Summer in the Alps is beautiful, and summer in the Portes du Soleil is an alpine spots Mecca for everything from Rafting, Hiking, Paragliding to Mountain Biking or whatever your favourite activity is. The Mountain Bike Down Hill Word Cup was again held in Les Gets in 2004 and the Tour De France has also been through the town several times.

There are plenty of hire shops for equipment for various traditional sports, such as cycling, or for the adventurous souls, the more diverse sports such as Rafting and Paragliding are offered by many professional companies in Les Gets or neighbouring resort Morzine.

Les Gets has a great choice of restaurants, late night bars and a few nightclubs. There are plenty of clothes and souvenir shops and regular events in the town to keep you amused during both summer and winter seasons.

For other places of interest, worth a visit are local Haute Savoie towns/villages with charming architecture and weekly markets.

Slightly further away, places such as Evian (see the source of the famous water), Lac Le man (the lake of Geneva) and Geneva City (in Switzerland). Day trips to Switzerland (50 minutes to the Swiss border) are also possible.
